Am 3. September ging es los, mit Aero Flott über Moskau nach Seoul. Mit Aero Flott zu fliegen war kein Abenteuer mehr, Maschine neu, Flughafen neu, Gepäck ungeöffnet, blöde Vorurteile!  Aber Freunde hab ich in Moskau  getroffen, zufällig, aus Berlin, alle auf dem Weg nach Seoul zu einem Performance Festival.

Seit einer Woche bin ich nun in Korea, viel ist passiert, Zeit zum schreiben hab ich erst jetzt gefunden, aber dafür folgt jetzt alles Stück für Stück.

Korea ist einfach zu Reisen, viele sind unterwegs und so gibt es ein ausgezeichnetes Bus Netz, Bahn Netz und Preise die unübertroffen sind. Die Fahrt von Seoul nach Gongju, wo ich jetzt bin, 90 min ca. 120km,  kostete ca. 7,- Euro, das Taxi für 3km gerade 3,-. Überall bekommt was zu Essen auch wenn man nicht weis was es ist und alle sind freundlich auch ohne das man sich versteht. Wetter ist super 28°, manchmal regen.

Korea ist ein lustiges Land, chaotisch und staubig aber liebenswert. Man sollte es nicht mit Japan vergleichen, das Beschreiben macht es aber einfacher.

Der 7Eleven schaut aus wie in Japan, nur mit Plastikstühle vor der Fasade mit Typen drin, die mit Dosenkaffee abhängen. Überall blinken und leuchten Lichter oft ohne erkennbaren Sinn schaut aber hübsch aus.  Mega homecenter stores wie “Joyful Honda” fehlen, dafür ist der ganze OBI auf 400qm gequetscht im Laden nebenan zu finden. Er bietet aber nur max. für eine Person Platz zum shoppen. Muß man warten, wie es mir passiert ist weil sich meine Mitfahrgelegenheit verspätet hat, bekommt man dann schonmal im Büro Süßkartoffeln, Kaffee und weißes Zeug, nicht nur für mich auch für Stammkunden. Die Strassen sind staubig, Verkehrsregeln braucht man nicht immer, gefahren wird rechts überholt wird auch rechts. Gearbeitet wird viel, dafür hat genießt man aber seine auch frei Zeit.

Das Symposium zur Geumgang Nature Art Biennale – Human, Sound and Nature besteht aus 39 Künstlern, davon 11 aus dem Ausland . Wir Internationale leben am Waldrand von Gongju in einem Camp. Je drei Künstler – ein Container, Toiletten – ein Container, Duschen – ein Container, Küche – ein Container, Werkzeug Raum – ein Container, unser Helferinnen aus Ungarn – ein Zelt, der große Ess-und Arbeitsplatz – ein großes Zelt auf einer Platform im Wald und das Office – ein Haus.

Die ersten Tage vergingen schnell, Material bestellen, darauf warten, Platz suchen, vorgestellt werden und Essen, jeden Abend bei Frau Ko – ein Traum.

Dann kam das Wochenende und ein Spontan Entschluss in die Berge zu fahren.

With Aero Flott over Moscow wasn´t an adventure anymore, new aircraft, new airport, baggage unopened, stupid prejudices!

For a week I’m now here, a lot has happened, now I found  time to write, step by step.

In Korea it is easy to travel, many people does it. There is an excellent bus network, rail network and the prices are unbeatable. The journey from Seoul to Gongju, where I am now takes 90 min for 120km and costs about 7, – Euro, for a taxi 3km 3, – Euro. Everywhere you will get something to eat even if you don´t know not what it is and all are friendly even without understanding each other. The Weather is super, 28 °, sometimes rain.

Korea is a funny country, chaotic, dusty and lovable. Nobody should compare it with Japan, but it makes writing easier. The 7Eleven looks like in Japan, but now with plastic chairs in front and people drinking  coffee from cans. Everywhere are lights flashing, often for no obvious reason but it looks nice. “Joyful Honda” the mega home center store is missing, but the entire OBI is found squashed on 400sqm in the shop next door, even if it`s provides max. space for one person to shop. If you have to wait, as it happened to me, you get from the office sweet potatoes, coffee and white stuff, not only for me also for regular customers. Roads are dusty, the traffic rules are sometimes useful, the cars go at the right side, overtaking also at the right . People work a lot, but they also enjoy their free time.

The symposium on Geumgang Nature Art Biennale – Human Nature & Sound consists of 39 artists, including 11 from abroad. We internationals are living on the edge of the forest  next to Gongju. Its a kind of permanent camp, three artists – one container, toilets – one container, showering – one container kitchen – one container, tool room – one container our helpers from Hungary – one tent, the large dining and working room – one large tent on a platform in the forest and the office – one house.

The first few days passed quickly, ordering material, waiting, searching the exhibition place and dinner,  each night at Ms. Ko – wonderland of food.

Then came the weekend and a spontaneous decision to go to the mountains -

for tomorrow.
